Outer Straits

The numb morning, can't cut through
Watch me lean into this tune
Seething restless sitting close
In some parallel outer straits
Somewhere parallel to me
And the digest redigests
Feeding scraps of platitudes
To an insatiable audience
Dumbfucked at the parallels you've gleaned
From inside you're cavernous fingernails
I break out from that tune
My rhythm ain't written in normalcy
My rhythm's written in some outer straits

Blink in the light
We are yours for only tonight
Out of debris, out of touch out of random weave
Comes a display, that slips underfoot like clay
Never finally formed, just sometimes rendered from raw
This is your breath, a monument to your only thread
Such is our thirst to make primal forms of the earth,
That we bleed in our sight, we bleed for a faceless delight
And comes a display, already fading away
Never finally formed, just sometimes rendered from raw
This is your breath, a monument to your only thread

Notes on Possession

Soon as I came in, I knew something was off
Fluorescent halogen, curtains like a moth
Something is dripping, at least the fridge is ticking over
Make my way through, stranger in my own hall
Dancing motes in my view, form a beating heart
Something is missing, at least the fridge is ticking over
See that desk there, see it staring back at me
Pushing into my stare, yet staying where it should be
It's wood is hissing and the fridge is ticking over
Alive within an effigy,
Alive within a cell,
All this machinery,
Came to me by itself,
Block out every sound,
But not the fridge still ticking over

Landslide at Ropoto

Ropoto they built on stone,
Long before the cracks could breath
But long before they built their home,
Began a movement conducted beneath
They weren't to know they were being composed,
Into the earth they did sink,
Subterranean turnover,
Impermeable to man's belief
Ropoto flow on stone,
the townspeople sing,
Who can say what will end us?
The developers say nothing
As brick piles up on brick
Arrogance laid on thick
Dead brick piled up on dead brick
While the deep starts and blinks
While Ropoto's set in stone,
for the ever wandering
No we won't take any of this with us
The townspeople sing
There's a stirring between the faultlines,
As the ground beneath gives way,
Subterranea stretching ageless,
They pray to the deep and sing,
While the white mist gathered and spoke to them,
Spoke of nothing,
Other than, slow motion turnover,
Between the actors and the stage

Your evolution has found you down here,
The new normal built around you down here,
A crick in the neck can drown you out,
There's a creak in the floorboards not so far above the ground,
Your personality has found you in here,
Uncanny valleys built round you in here,
A crick in the neck can flush you out,
We soldiered to the bone then we were drowned out,
A yawn still has volume in here,
The trees don't fall louder in here,
False dawns don't reach down here,
Blood and soil drawing near,
That easy fix has cost us dear,
Targeted sunburn reaches down here,
That newly minted tweak we've been dying to hear,
A yawn still has volume in here,
The trees don't fall louder in here,

Kept on Display
05:53
|
|
||
Photos that grip onto your stem,
Compressing one into the other,
Face into face into faith,
I didn't know I crave,
Pages that wrap around your eyelid,
Blown and swept into my periphery,
Phrase into phrase bring on a new phase,
Then just take up too much space,
Kept on display,
All trinkets are sacred,
But nothing is sacred,
Throw nothing away,
Statues moulded to your bones,
Hollow and built upon shaky ground,
Names scribed over names drive nails,
And hold open your gaze,
We are displayed,
And we're overdue,
For sweeping off the shelf,
Readily displaced,
When that moulded hue,
Is displayed on the shelf

Unwavering Edinburgh, UK
Purveyor of subterranean folk "tinged" with drone
"what a Stone Roses LP may have
sounded like if they had left Mani and Reni at home and where more down for it than up. This is a quite beautiful album; melodies melancholy and a bewitching scenic beauty weave a hypnotic spell."
